Summer Programs

Throughout the summer months, Holy Trinity offers a rich variety of opportunities to enhance current students’ academic, athletic, personal, professional, and spiritual growth.

Academic Opportunities

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine: Sci-High GoKidney Program

Sci-High invites exceptional students with a passion for science to participate in an 8-week immersive program with hands-on research in NU GoKidney’s biomedical research cores. In its inaugural year (2019), all five Sci-High students were Holy Trinity scholars.

NXTGEN IIT

Students who demonstrate an interest in application development, cybersecurity and software development are chosen to attend summer classes at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. IIT has made a commitment to reserve space in their NXTGEN classes for Holy Trinity students at a reduced fee.

Bridge: Summer Enrichment

Designed for incoming freshmen, Bridge offers select students the opportunity to build critical skills needed for high school success. Taught by Holy Trinity faculty, students participate in a four-week program, from 8:00 am until noon, working on English and Math as well as social-emotional skills.

Credit Recovery

Holy Trinity is committed to giving every student the resources he or she needs to graduate. Students who fail a course are given the opportunity to recover their missing credit(s) through Credit Recovery. Students work on a specific subject matter through an online course under the guidance of Holy Trinity teachers. The online program is skills-based, and students are not allowed to move on to the next level without recording a 70% passage rate on their current section. Students begin this program the Monday after school ends and wrap up their coursework in mid-July.

Personal & Career Development Opportunities

Friends for a Future: Summer Internship

Holy Trinity created its Friends for a Future internship program in 1995 to provide students with insight into business and career opportunities through first-hand exposure to a professional work environment. In addition to placing trained students in corporate internships, we also match each intern with a mentor from the business community who provides support and guidance while also periodically checking in with the intern’s employer. Thanks to this unique, two-pronged approach, Friends for a Future has played a significant role in the growth and development of more than 350 students, all of whom have gone on to college.

Holy Cross Conference for Student Leaders

Offered each summer on the campus of Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, four students and two faculty members meet other Holy Cross high schools and their students to share what it means to be a Holy Cross school. The five-day event builds friendships and a commonality among students and inspires leadership development as students return to their schools with new ideas and excitement about Holy Cross.

STEP-UP and Coach

This unique program is designed to teach young men the qualities of responsibility, work ethic, dedication and public speaking through coaching. The experience begins with a weekend of training at Holy Trinity, followed by a week-long program at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. There, participants receive hands-on training in the art of coaching youngsters at the local Boys and Girls’ Club and exposure to college readiness through Wabash College personnel. STEP-UP and Coach is open to current sophomores, juniors and graduates (acting as counselors and teachers). Holy Trinity students are not alone in this experience. Students from public schools in Michigan join them and they work together in teams. The program tracks the students throughout their high school experience and into college.

Athletic Camps

Holy Trinity Coaches offer a variety of sport-specific camps, conditioning programs and practices throughout the summer months, designed to prepare student-athletes for tryouts and to create team bonding.
