Nov. 27: Tigers 51, Northtown Charter 17
HT moved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Chicago Prep league play with a 51-17 victory at home over the visiting Pumas of Northtown Charter. The Lady Tigers were led by Rachel Asante (10 points) and Kristina Vargas and Alyssa Hernandez (8 points each). Vargas added 6 steals and 2 assists to the mix while Hernandez was the leading rebounder with 10. The game was played in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd that included young fans from nearby St. Stans Kostka school's 'girls basketball squad.
Nov. 14: Tigers 40, Perspectives/Joslin 26
Using a 24 to 8 burst to the end of the first half, HT held off visiting Perspectives 40-26 to post their first win on the new season Wednesday night at home. Leading the way for Holy Trinity (1-1) was Star Brooks (9 points, five rebounds, 2 steals); both Cece Gardner and Kristina Vargas pitched in six points on the night. Gardner added seven rebounds and six steals to the mix. Three other Lady Tigers, Jada White, Rachel Asante and Alyssa Hernandez scored five each. Asante was the leading rebounder for the home squad with nine. Also featured was Ashley Walton who scored the first varsity points of her career.
Nov. 13: Morgan Park Ac. 49, Holy Trinity 47
Opening the 2018-19 campaign at home, the Lady Tigers (0-1) dropped a two-point affair to the visiting Warriors of Morgan Park Academy Tuesday evening by a final of 49-47. HT featured 13 points from Rachel Asante who bagged three treys for her effort while teammates Jada White and Alyssa Hernandez both had 12 on the evening. Holy Trinity led 7 to 4 at the end of one quarter but Morgan Park Ac. closed that gap to one at the half at 25-24 the Tigers. Down the stretch Morgan Park Ac. then outscored the hosts 25-22 to take the opening contest for both teams. The Warriors shot 65% from the charity stripe with McLachlan going 16-for-24 from the line. HT only had 12 free throw attempts in the contest making 6 on the night.
