Sophomores -- Get the Education Edge at Dominican University This Summer

Attention Sophomores --

Dominican University has developed a summer program just for you. The Education Edge program is now accepting applications, and you can get one from Mr. Baisden in the Counseling Center.

The program includes sports activities, scholarship searches, introduction to the college admissions process, and getting ready for the ACT. The program is free, but you must apply by April 30, 2010, to be accepted into the program.

Any interested sophomore should see Mr. Baisden.

Financial Aid Application Deadline for 2010-11 is March 30

Attention HT students and prospective students! Financial aid application materials should have been mailed to your home this week. If you still need financial aid application materials, or require additional copies, please stop by the Development office in Room 106 and see Ms. Daly right away! The final deadline for 2010-11 financial aid applications is March 30, 2010.

HT and Catholic Relief Services Team Up to Help Others During Lent

As we continue to observe Lent, each of the homerooms has been given a Lenten activity. HT is joining with other Catholic organizations around the world in Operation Rice Bowl. The objective of Operation Rice Bowl is to make us more aware of our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world and to pray for those who are suffering. We are also encouraged to bring in our loose change and donate it to Catholic Relief Services. This money will go to help local and worldwide charities of our choice. As a school, we have set a goal of raising $500.

Attention Future Chicago Police and Firefighters

The Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy is recruiting sophomores who are interested in careers in public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice, or fire science.

The Training Academy holds a 4-year program that involves a paid summer internship and financial assistance to attend a city college.

Interested sophomores should see Mr. Baisden in the counseling center regarding dates for informational meetings about the program.

Interested in a Summer Lifeguarding Job? Swim Over to the Counseling Center

Students who are 16-years-old or older who are interested in a summer job as a lifeguard at the Chicago Parks District pools should visit the Counseling Center for details and information on how to become qualified for the position. Training classes begin March 23, 2010.

This Valentine's Day, HT Students SHARED THE LOVE by Participating in the HT Canned Food Drive!

This Valentine's Day, the Yearbook Staff and Photography Club SHARED THE LOVED with a canned food drive. From Friday, Feb. 5, through Wednesday, Feb. 10, a total of 110 students helped out by donating 2 or more non-perishable items to the Chicago Food Depository.

On Thursday, Feb. 11, the Yearbook Staff and Photography Club also had a Valentine's Day photo shoot, where students could have their pictures taken with their boo or friends.

Congratulations, HT Honor Roll Students for 2nd Stage!

The 2nd Stage Honor Roll has been announced! Congratulations to all of the HT students who worked hard to achieve this distinction!

NHS & Pet Club Offer Framed Photos with HT Tiger for $5 -- All Proceeds to Red Cross Disaster Relief in Haiti!

Holy Trinity's Pet Club and National Honor Society have offered framed photos with our HT Tiger for $5 to celebrate the "Year of the Tiger." Photos were taken on Thursday, January 28, during lunch periods and afterschool in the cafeteria.

All proceeds will go to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in order to help Haiti to recover from its recent devastating earthquake.

HT Students Named 2009-10 Illinois State Scholars

Congratulations to Edward Garcia and Stuart Primm, HT seniors who have been recognized as 2009-10 Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).

Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top 10% of high school seniors statewide. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year.
