Resource Learning Center

RLC: ROOMS 110 AND 112
HOURS: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY (7:30-7:55, HOMEROOM, 3:00-4:30)
The two main goals of the Sister Rita Joras Resource Learning Center (RLC) are to assist students with the academic challenges presented by the curriculum at Holy Trinity and to assist teachers in their quest to continually challenge all students at Holy Trinity.
All Holy Trinity students are welcome to utilize the RLC at various times throughout the school day. Students may start their day as early as 7:30, putting the finishing touches on their work before the 8:00 bell. Later, during their mid-day Homeroom period, students may visit the RLC for some extra tutoring or to just get a jump on their evening assignments. After school, tutors circulate the RLC until 4:30, helping students of all grade levels and all abilities with all subjects.
Teachers may also employ the RLC in a variety of manners, both during their class periods and beyond. Stocked with a number of laptop computers, the RLC functions as a writing lab, with RLC staff members, upon request, assisting in the entire writing process, from reseach to revision. When necessary, individual or small group remediation is available, with tutors engaging students selected by their teachers for a more focused in-class session. Teachers also supply RLC tutors with class materials for extended post-class tutorial experiences.
The Resource Learning Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. At least one tutor is available at all times, with multiple staff members manning the busy Homeroom and after school hours. The supervisor of the RLC is Mr. Dean Sullivan, who can be reached at 773-278-4212, extension 3041 or dsullivan@holytrinity-hs.org.
The RLC, originally dedicated in 1996, honors the memory of Sister Rita Joras, a longtime Holy Trinity teacher and mentor, of whom it was said: "She demanded much; she gave more."
