HT and Catholic Relief Services Team Up to Help Others During Lent
As we continue to observe Lent, each of the homerooms has been given a Lenten activity. HT is joining with other Catholic organizations around the world in Operation Rice Bowl. The objective of Operation Rice Bowl is to make us more aware of our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world and to pray for those who are suffering. We are also encouraged to bring in our loose change and donate it to Catholic Relief Services. This money will go to help local and worldwide charities of our choice. As a school, we have set a goal of raising $500. Our first activity is centered around the country of Lesotho.
Lesotho is a small country completely surrounded by South Africa. Lesotho has one of the highest rates of AIDS/HIV in the world, with more than 23% of its population infected with this disease. About 50% of women living in the urban areas of Lesotho are infected.
Please pray with us for the people of Lesotho. Please pray with us for the orphans and vulnerable children who are struggling to survive in Lesotho and other countries around the world. May our generosity and prayers this Lent provide them with comfort and support.
