OUR HISTORY
Holy Trinity High School
was founded in 1910 to educate the children of Polish immigrants who
settled in the near-north part of Chicago and who were some of the
poorest in the city at the time. In following the spirituality
of the Brothers of Holy Cross and the educational framework of their
founder, Blessed Fr. Basil Moreau, CSC, the school has continued to
serve those who are most in need, now predominantly populated by
children from economic disadvantage and outright poverty. We
serve a broad, multi-racial, multi-ethnic group of teens who are not
often given opportunities by other
schools.
Utilizing a challenging and rigorous curriculum, the faculty and staff
of Holy Trinity commit their talents to service of the underserved
children in the Chicago area. We empower our students by showing
them the value of community service and active
faith-based ministry. We compassionately inspire our students to
follow a code of conduct based on respect, self-discipline and
Catholic principles. We teach our students to make choices,
empower them to choose a position for their lives and
inspire them to achieve their dreams. We love to hear a student
say, “I will succeed.”
Since 1910 and under the leadership of the Brothers of Holy Cross,
Holy Trinity High School has provided quality, caring education that
educates the heart as well as the mind. We have engaged in a
unique neighborhood-based strategy designed to motivate disadvantaged
teens to stay in school as they learn the skills necessary to succeed.
For the 2007-2008 school year, Holy Trinity enrolled 420 students,
with
a vast majority from families for whom private school tuition is a
great financial burden, requiring more than $1.5 million in financial
aid. The current student population
includes 43% Hispanic, 49% African-American, 5% Bi-Racial/Other, and
3% Caucasian. Across-the-board, our success is seen in our rate
of graduates who are accepted into college or university programs:
100%!!!
